Wanted Dead Or Alive

03 Nov

“I’m a cowboy on a steel horse I ride. I’m wanted dead or alive”
-Bon Jovi

The most memorable performance by Bon Jovi, for me, is the the acoustic version of Livin’ On A Prayer and Wanted Dead Or Alive on MTV VMAs in 1989. Just 2 guys (Jon and Richie) and 2 acoustic guitars. Live, raw and real. No lip synching needed.

Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Glaze

Oh wow! That was quite ambitious. And it took half a day to make them. I usually make things that are quick and easy. Prepare, cook/bake, eat.

I was plunging myself into unfamiliar territory. I have never made any kind of bread or anything that requires to add yeast. The name itself is a little scary. Dry Active Yeast. It just seems like it will spring to life and take over my kitchen. It’s alive! It’s alive!. Ok I watched too much tv.

Personally, I think this was not difficult to make. It just took a lot of time to let the dough rise.

It took 2 hours for the dough to rise to almost double in size. In that time, I sent my son to his weekly religious class, send my dad to see his doctor and had breakfast at a coffee shop. Ok all that took more than 2 hours. It was nice to run errands and came back to a perfectly risen dough.

Then I rolled it out, filled it with cinnamon sugar and let it rise again for about an hour.

Finally time to bake! After 30mins, it’s done! Of course I had made a Vanilla Glaze to drizzle on top. Yum!

Despite a mistake that made me almost throw away the dough and start all over again, it turned out quite ok. A little hard and not the fluffy cinnamon rolls I was hoping for. But still quite good.

-hazrock, this ain’t a love song

Just google “Laura Vitale cinnamon roll”. There’s a video for it there too if you’re like me, who cooks better if I learn it visually. Ok back to your dissertation. Lol!
      Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

So, I saw these rolls in the reader under the tag food, and was attracted to them because they looked a lot like Pulla, a Finnish sweet that reminds me of my past. BUT THEN you quoted Bon Jovi and I decided that I would love this blog πŸ™‚ I used to be obsessed with them, and went to their concert in Sydney in 2010…where I actually got to touch John’s arm! Now, I’m not so much into them anymore, mostly because the latest albums let me down, but I was such an obsessed fan that it’s difficult to forget how much I used to love them! Essay over – great recipe, great photos and great taste in music!

Thank you for stopping by! Oh I know a lot about obsessing with bands. I sort of stopped obsessing. you know, life, kids took over. But I still enjoy occasional rock songs these days. They take me back to those young and carefree days. And I usually try to incorporate some rock songs I’ve known into my food writings here. Sometimes they matched perfectly. Other times, I don’t even know what the hell I’m talking about! Lol

Thanks David! These almost didn’t make it. I’m glad I amended the tiny mistake I made. And didn’t throw the whole thing away. πŸ™‚
