Come To My Window

“I would dial the numbers just to listen to your breath”
-Melissa Etheridge

No gimmicks, no nonsense. Just pure music. That’s how I feel about the music of Melissa Etheridge. Love that song too, and especially that line. Desperation, loving someone you’re not supposed to, longing.

Picture grabbed from Google Search.

Anyway, I was at the supermarket today. That’s what I do when I’m bored, window shopping. And when i say “window shopping”, it does not necessarily mean browsing clothes or bags or shoes. Yes I browse those but these days I enjoy browsing food more to get inspiration on what to cook or bake or write about.

The supermarket was not that crowded today. Maybe everyone else had done their grocery shopping. Or maybe people just came in, grabbed whatever they need, paid and got out. Whatever it was, I was happy I didn’t have to jostle among the crowd.

It just struck me how interesting food looked, even raw ones. So I started to take some photos with my trusty phone. i had one eye keeping vigilant, should the manager come up to me and says, “sorry, ma’am. No pictures allowed.” Boy, that would be embarrassing.

Citrus fruits. Bright and cheery.

Tis a season for Squashes! Ooh. I want some of that butternut! Perfect just roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper.

And speaking of olive oil, gorgeous shelves of them!

We want cheese!

Whoa! Look at the size of those melons! (Innuendoes not intended).

Snappers, pomfrets and selars looked so fresh.

Cabbages, green and purple. Whole heads and some cut into smaller portions.

Organic beans and legumes

Juicy red tomatoes.

Various mushrooms. Cute white buttons, earthy chestnuts and flavorful dried porcinis.

Feeling the need to bake an apple crumble.

Finally, my favorite men, Ben & Jerry, in pints and quarts. Oh my!
