Get This Party Started

28 Sep

My 2nd daughter, Qistina will be turning 5 years old over the weekend. Enjoy this wonderful day, sweetheart! May beauty and happiness surround you today and always. And may Allah bestow his blessings upon you.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young

Bob Dylan

We went out for dinner at Swensen’s, Compass Point, an American restaurant. We were there during the start of the dinner rush hour. I guess that was why I found their service to be unfavorable. Nevertheless, the birthday girl enjoyed her meal.

Starters came..

Fries in a cone with barbecue and tartare sauces

Prawn Dippers and Calamari Rings

Then came our entrees..

She and her sister Marissa shared a Kid’s Meal Burger served in an adorable cardboard pirate ship.

Her dad had the Fish Baked Rice

Her brother Razin had the Baked Spaghetti with Meatballs

Her mom, aka me, had the Pesto Salmon. This one eluded me. It didn’t taste like pesto. Hmmm?

And now desserts..

Razin created his own sundae of Cookies n Cream and Vanilla Ice Cream topped with chocolate and caramel sauces

Her dad had his favourite Coit Tower sundae

And finally Qistina with her celebratory Firehouse Happy Birthday sundae. Yes, with a candle that she blew out.

And she insisted that throughout the whole weekend, I would call her “birthday girl” instead of her usual name. Go figure!

-hazrock, insisted to be called “birthday girl’s mommy”

Oh bummer! Swensens had a lot of foods that are familiar even though they are western. We sort of grow to like them over the years! And on behalf of the birthday girl, thank you! 🙂

You started me off smiling with the lovely sentiments in the Dylan song…And then I got a bit obsessed with the fries in the cone lol
