Good Ol’ Days

All photos in this post are not mine and grabbed from Google Search.

If you were a child in the 80s and living in Singapore, you would probably recognise some of the following snacks. This is a tribute to the snacks I enjoyed eating when I was little. As I wistfully went through all these pictures I found on Google Search, I can’t help thinking about all those childhood memories living in a kampong (village) house in the Kaki Bukit area. Good times.

Kaka. A corn snack with different flavors. My favourite was the chicken one, in a red packet. It came with a toy and it was fun to fish it out as soon as I tore the pack open.

Ding Dang. Chocolate balls with a biscuit centre. Also came with a toy. Because that was what it was a about!

Nutella in small packs. A perennial favourite!

Chewing Gum. Back in those days when chewing gum is available freely in Singapore. The inside of the wrapper has a “tattoo” which when you wet it a little and apply onto your skin, the design will transfer. Mostly cartoon-y designs.

Rowntree’s Blackcurrant Pastilles and Jelly Tots. I can eat the whole pack of those in one sitting.

Choki Choki. Like Nutella but in a plastic tube. Squeeze it straight into mouth! Lol

Pocky (Chocolate). Long thin biscuits coated with chocolate.

All this reminiscing is getting me all misty-eyed.

Pocky came with so many flavors too. But I still went back to chocolate. Still do today! πŸ™‚

Those good old days. Kaka was only 20 cents per packet.
