My mother-in-law’s Roti Kirai or net crepes

The first day of fasting went well. And for Iftar (breaking fast), we went to my in-laws’ place. It was so nice to have a meal with the family.

My mother-in-law makes the best Roti Kirai. These are special “net crepes” which requires a certain skill to make them. The best tool for the job is a kitchen gadget especially designed for making Roti Kirai.

The batter for Roti Kirai is quite runny. It is poured into the dispenser, then it will come out through the tiny holes straight into a griddle or frying pan. With a circular motion of the hands, it will create a lovely net or lace pattern on the pan.

When it is cooked, it is folded into triangles and served with curry. Yum!

2 or 3 pieces per person is enough. I think I took 3. Or 4? Oh well. These are so so good!
