Epok-Epok from a little shop at a light train station in Sengkang, Singapore

Epok-Epok or Curry Puff is often eaten as a snack. I had it for breakfast. You can say this is like a Malay version of a calzone but way smaller, each only about a quarter of the size of a real calzone.

A classic filling would be curried potatoes and onions. Yes, a double carbo moment certainly not for one who is on a high protein diet. I guess if you are really hungry, you can eat about 3 of these. But there are some huge ones being sold, with a piece of hard-boiled egg inside, and eating only one of those is enough.
Another popular filling is canned sardines in tomato sauce with added chillies and onions.
